Legal Services Since 1812
Welcome to Blunts
Based in Cheshire, Blunts Solicitors has provided legal services for over 200 years. Specialising in property and business law, we offer a proactive and focused approach providing clear and pragmatic advice. We’ve been around in one form or another since 1812, when the firm of Brocklehurst and Bagshaw, of whom Blunts Solicitors are a direct descendant, began operating from the premises.
Our team at Blunts can provide expert support whether your business is restructuring or growing by acquisition. We can also advise on the full range of business types including joint ventures and franchises and on effective exit strategies.
We try to settle any dispute to your advantage using negotiation and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) but if this proves impossible we will guide you through the process as smoothly as is possible.
We believe prevention is better than cure and that having the right agreements in place is a vital part of any commercial transaction. We take time to make sure that the agreements suit your business needs and offer a contract review service.
We represent both employees and employers in all types of employment law disputes. Because we have experience representing both sides, we can anticipate the issues and arguments the other side will use and develop an appropriate response.
Our commercial property team take pride in their ability to provide clear, pragmatic and focused advice to business owners, landlords and tenants alike.

Services for You
Family / land / will / probate / trust
Blunts has been providing legal services and solutions to our private clients in the above areas of law since 1812. Having been in Macclesfield for over 200 years we have a wealth of legal knowledge that our clients can draw upon. We still hold dear the idea of the ‘family solicitor’ and can proudly claim that we continue to act for many clients several generations after their predecessor’s first contact with us.
We are a specialist conveyancing and property legal practice. We are an accredited member of the Law Society Approved Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) and were one of the first firms in Cheshire to achieve this accreditation.
At Blunts we have been dealing with Probate and Estate Administration since our earliest days – over 200 years ago so have a vast experience of both simple and complex cases.
In an age when increasing numbers are living to a great age there is a need for us to provide for a time when we may be incapable of looking after our own financial and health affairs.
We offer an approachable and supportive service providing simple and practical advice in what are emotionally challenging circumstances. We are members of Resolution – a national association of family law experts.
